The Dreamer Sails Today, a CD composed and recorded on board by Howard
Davis is a delightful set of twelve modern day sailing tunes. It offers
a good variety of original poetry with a range of presentation from island to
country beats. The vocals are extremely pleasant and easy to listen to. The
title song is reminiscent of the style and sound of Roy Orbison. Lyrics are
both poetic and fun, with excellent accompaniments.
Howard Davis, who at one time lived on his boat in the Gloucester Harbor and sailed frequently, composed and recorded the songs over four years. He describes his style as "combining elements of American and ethnic folk music with an eclectic mix." Davis taught guitar and performed solo and with a trio for many years.
