Massachusetts Bay Trading Co. Reports Record Sales Growth, New Products

MBTC sales up 20% for H1 2006

WESTON, Mass. -- September 21, 2006 -- Massachusetts Bay Trading Company (www.massbaytrading.com), the web store featuring Massachusetts-made products and gifts associated with Boston, announced a growth of 20% during H1 2006 relative to H1 2005. Demand for Boston and Massachusetts products from both the corporate and consumer sectors helped push sales to a record height.

“Especially strong product lines this year have included the Spencer Peterman hand made spaulted maple bowls, art prints by Thomas Rebek and Thomas Dunlay, a new line of t-shirts that celebrate the Red Sox “Love That Dirty Water” theme, Tide Clocks with custom nautical charts, and the range of Boston and Massachusetts gift box sets,” said MBTC President Bob Nilsson. “As the business environment in Massachusetts has improved, we’ve seen our corporate customers increase their MBTC purchases.”

New product line additions
New products for year have included braided rugs hand-crafted in Massachusetts by Thorndike Mills, new Boston holiday ornaments, an expanding line of Boston holiday greeting cards, calendar towels, items based on the Massachusetts town signs, Whales in the Wild video DVD, new puzzles, Boston candies, and an extensive array of Boston wedding favors.
Despite the turn for the worse that the Red Sox season has taken, the store’s Red Sox related items continue to sell well. Recent additions to the line include a new version of the popular Red Sox Monopoly, Red Sox Uno, and Red Sox Jenga. In addition to new Patriots products, the store has also expanded into Celtics-related items.
